I have been a full time professional wedding photographer now for 31 years and from back in the day, when people came to the photographers studio to trudge through album after album in search for the perfect images for their day, until now when brides have to swim through literally thousands of Facebook posts swamping them with photographers and their packages offering this that and the next thing. In truth I admire people who do their research and find the perfect fit for them.

So how do you start?....Over the years I have seen so many wedding photographers and wedding photography companies come and go, along with trends they provide to ensnare couples to become clients....Let's remember here, we are searching for a Photographer, a Professional, with experience and a proven track record of making people happy with the images of their special…

The Importance of an Engagement Shoot

Engagement sessions are one of my favourite things to photograph. It’s a great opportunity to get to know my couples before their wedding and see how they interact with each other. A lot of people don’t feel comfortable being photographed. This gives them an idea of how I work and puts them at ease before the most important day of their lives!

Reasons I think engagement shoots are great and a must have….

The more time you spend with your photographer the more comfortable you’ll be in front of the lens. A relaxed and happy couple make for much nicer natural images of the two of you. Remember, your photographer will be with you for HOURS on your wedding day capturing all those intimate moments and preserving one of the most emotional days of your life. Not only does this give me the opportunity to get to know you but you also get to know me!

Exciting ways to announce you are going to get married!

By Christine O'Malley Independent Celebrant You've decided to get married - so how do you let the world know ? The classic way is to put an announcement into the paper but just in case people miss it take a photo and send it out on social media. Wear it ! Have matching tee shirts made and wear them on a night out with friends. That should get the conversation going. Go high tech and make a video. There are lots of sites where you can create a video for free. Making the video can be great fun - choose some of your favourite places and songs and get creative. When you are done - publish on social media. Send a card. Again there are a number of sites where you can create a postcard to send to anywhere. Useful if your family and friends are scattered across the world. Or go all out and have an aeroplane banner ! Which ever way you choose the announcement is just the beginning of a whole new chapter.
