A systematic way to selecting your BIG DAY Wedding Photographer

By Gardner T Hamilton For The Knot Wedding Directory

I really don't know how you guys do it !!

I have been a full time professional wedding photographer now for 31 years and from back in the day, when people came to the photographers studio to trudge through album after album in search for the perfect images for their day, until now when brides have to swim through literally thousands of Facebook posts swamping them with photographers and their packages offering this that and the next thing.  In truth I admire people who do their research and find the perfect fit for them.

So how do you start?....Over the years I have seen so many wedding photographers and wedding photography companies come and go, along with trends they provide to ensnare couples to become clients....Let's remember here, we are searching for a Photographer, a Professional, with experience and a proven track record of making people happy with the images of their special…

Tips on Wedding Photography

Tips From A Professional Wedding Photographer For Maximising Value by Matthew Scott

Matthew Scott is a professional, award-winning wedding photographer based in Brighton and Sussex. Over the years he’s seen more weddings than he can count and he’s here to share his tips for maximising your money spent on a photographer and avoiding classic pitfalls of wedding photography.

Get A Professional

But the photographs you get from that day will outlive even the nicest of chocolate fountains and will be looked at for years to come. So when uncle Dereck with his DSLR offers to do it for free, I advise you to politely decline.

Not least because, uncle Dereck will be a guest with friends and family in attendance and he’ll want an hors d'œuvreor two, my point is that a professional will be there to work. As well-intentioned as a …

Guide to Wedding Flowers by Silk Flower House

Our Guide to Wedding Flowers and Essential Checklist is now available to download from our website

We have listed all the possible people and places that you may need flowers, but how many or how few of each you will need will depend on the type and size of your wedding and your budget. This could range from as little as a Bridal Bouquet and Buttonhole for the Groom to everything listed.

The choice is yours!

Take a look through and make notes of your ideas (such as flowers/colours/theme/style) and the number of each item you need. This will also help bring into focus the size and style of the wedding, numbers of guests, colours etc, how you want your wedding to be and how it will fit in with your budget.

The Importance of an Engagement Shoot

Engagement sessions are one of my favourite things to photograph. It's a great opportunity to get to know my couples before their wedding and see how they interact with each other. A lot of people don't feel comfortable being photographed. This gives them an idea of how I work and puts them at ease before the most important day of their lives! Reasons I think engagement shoots are great and a must have....  The more time you spend with your photographer the more comfortable you'll be in front of the lens. A relaxed and happy couple make for much nicer natural images of the two of you. Remember, your photographer will be with you for HOURS on your wedding day capturing all those intimate moments and preserving one of the most emotional days of your life. Not only does this give me the opportunity to get to know you but you also get to know me!   Ladies...this can be the perfect time to do a trial run fo…
