Gardner T Hamilton

I have been a Pro Wedding photographer for 29 years. I often analyze myself with "What's my style" and "do I have a style" type of questions but after years of travelling and shooting with such a diverse range for clients, cultures, ceremonies and traditions it is clear that my couples are my style . The couples who reserve me do so because we are compatible as people and the result is then mutually pleasing. As with this array of wedding images from around the globe I always look for the possibility to include something personal to each couple, be it their love for Chess, Skiing, music, cycling or even super hero's. An image with a personal connotation becomes more and more valued by couples as time goes on. After over 1000 wedding assignments completed it is clear for me that telling the story of the wedding to the Bride and Groom through images has become rather easy now , after all, they wrote and star in the …

St Ives Harbour Hotel Wedding by Jon O’Connell Photography

The wedding of Tom and Karen who were married at the St Ives Harbour Hotel was blessed with some beautiful weather. Neither Tom or Karen were from the area but St Ives held some special reasons or memories for them to make the decision to get married here. Both staying at the lovely Harbour Hotel, I was able to move between the preperations of both the bride and groom, documenting each story leading up to the wedding. Tom seemed very relaxed with his brother and best man all getting ready before heading down to the bar for a drink and to meet their guests. Karen was busy getting ready with her bridesmaid and a few close friends, also looking quite relaxed and all enjoying themselves. I took pictures of some of the details that Karen had scattered around as well as the shoes and her beatiful wedding dress which I hung in a recessed window space so as to also encompass the beautiful sea and coastline in the background. Once Karen was in her dress we took some pictures…

A Truro Cathedral Wedding

By Jon O'Connell Photography Edward and Jessica’s Truro Cathedral Wedding Edward and Jessica were married in early August 2016 and I had been asked to be their wedding photographer Cornwall. After looking at my previous wedding day photography, Edward and Jessica had decided they liked my documentary style and ability to capture the emotions and essence of a wedding day in a natural and unposed way.  They had stipulated many times that they only wanted minimal posing and mainly for the family formals.  The rest of the day, my aim was to capture everyone having fun and hopefully a few tears of joy. Edward and Jessica’s wedding took place at Truro Cathedral which is an absolutely stunning place for a Cornwall wedding photographer to document. The sun was shining as I headed to the bride and her maids for the preperations.  They had a beautiful house with tall ceilings and big windows allowing for plenty of opportunities for pictures…

JB Moments – My Story

Happy New Year …I can still say that 12 days in, right?! There is nothing like the end of one year and the exciting, anything is possible, start of a new one to get me in a reflective mood. Today I’m reflecting on why I started my own business. Picture the scene I worked for a blue chip bank that hired me as a graduate and for over 20 years promoted me, trained me and paid me VERY handsomely for what I did. I had a team of fabulous people working for me and influence over many more. BUT…I wasn’t happy. Well, that’s a lie, I was happy developing my team and watching them grow but office politics, pushing paper about, attending meetings about meetings and never actually creating anything worthwhile was taking its toll on my health and relationships. When I was younger, I thought that climbing the corporate ladder and earning more and more dosh was the key to happiness but eventually it dawned on me that a lot of the money I earned was being spent on ‘things’ to try and …
