We go behind the scenes at a styled boat wedding in Spain what to see what really goes on at a bridal editorial shoot currently trending on YouTube

Year round weddings in Spain

The best wedding suppliers are super-busy during the actual wedding season so this styled vow renewal shoot in Spain’s Costa Tropical was actually filmed in DECEMBER!

With blue skies, sunshine and calm seas, proof if ever it were needed, that the microclimate of this part of southern Spain really does indeed average 320 days of sunshine a year and that year-round weddings are a possibility.

This styled shoot was filmed at pretty Marina del Este which has featured several times on UK TV programmes such as “A Place in The Sun” and “A New Life in The Sun”.

International wedding community supporting each other

Spain’s Costa Tropical is one hour from Malaga and one hour from Granada and attracts an international year-round community of wedding suppliers able to provide their services in a range of languages to destination wedding couples from every corner of the world.

In our styled boat wedding shoot, the florist and the boat captain were Spanish, the crew was Dutch, the videographer was Czechian and the officiant, English!

Blown away by the wedding flowers

Decorating a boat for a wedding in the harbour is one thing, but taking a boat out to sea and styling it for a wedding shoot is quite another!

This was no problem for experienced floral artist Ana Mena who took a range of mobile arrangements that could be moved around the boat once it arrived at the ceremony location. The wedding flowers were as beautiful and as intact when we came back to harbour as when we left.

Real Spanish wedding couple

A styled shoot always gets the best interaction between the models when they are a real life partnership. This was no different for our styled boat wedding in Spain where our beautiful florist Ana and her gorgeous husband Mario agreed to be our models with Ana looking perfect in her dress by local designer Teressa Ninu Atelier

With a variation on the handfasting ritual, destination wedding officiant Debbie Skyrme wrapped an olive leaf rope three times around the extended arms of the bridal couple to signify their past, their present and their future lives together as they reminisced about experiences as a married couple and jokingly pledged new promises to each other for the years to come.

Don’t anchor by a nudist beach!

There was a lot of genuine laughter on board the boat, not least because it was moored by a nudist beach – with the one and only naked sunbather determined to get into shot!

Champagne corks popped, Ana and Mario were genuinely all loved up by the whole vow renewal experience and happy faces all round were captured by Michal Carbol initially on a separate boat by Nautica Elite and then with a leap between the two perfectly skippered boats he took close-ups of the couple on the beautiful motorised yacht.
