Wedding Make up FAQs

When it comes to Wedding Makeup (and makeup in general) I get asked a lot of questions and decided to write a blog with some of the most common questions.

1. What foundation do you recommend for mature skin?

My personal favourite is definitely Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation. I wear this myself and it's a favourite of Mother of the Bride/Grooms. It's more of a tinted moisturiser and is lovely and dewy. I would avoid a matte finish Foundation or anything too heavy, especially around the eye area, for more mature skin.

2. What concealer would you recommend for under eye area?

Again, it's a Charlotte Tilbury product (there's a theme here, Charlotte knows her stuff). It's a relatively new product that launched last year, it's the Magic Away Concealer. This concealer is beautiful under the eye, it's very light and blends beautifully. It comes with a sponge applicator which is great for personal use.

3. How d…

St Ives Harbour Hotel Wedding by Jon O’Connell Photography

The wedding of Tom and Karen who were married at the St Ives Harbour Hotel was blessed with some beautiful weather. Neither Tom or Karen were from the area but St Ives held some special reasons or memories for them to make the decision to get married here.

Both staying at the lovely Harbour Hotel, I was able to move between the preperations of both the bride and groom, documenting each story leading up to the wedding. Tom seemed very relaxed with his brother and best man all getting ready before heading down to the bar for a drink and to meet their guests.

Karen was busy getting ready with her bridesmaid and a few close friends, also looking quite relaxed and all enjoying themselves. I took pictures of some of the details that Karen had scattered around as well as the shoes and her beatiful wedding dress which I hung in a recessed window space so as to also encompass the beautiful sea and coastline in the background.

A Truro Cathedral Wedding

By Jon O'Connell Photography Edward and Jessica’s Truro Cathedral Wedding Edward and Jessica were married in early August 2016 and I had been asked to be their wedding photographer Cornwall. After looking at my previous wedding day photography, Edward and Jessica had decided they liked my documentary style and ability to capture the emotions and essence of a wedding day in a natural and unposed way.  They had stipulated many times that they only wanted minimal posing and mainly for the family formals.  The rest of the day, my aim was to capture everyone having fun and hopefully a few tears of joy. Edward and Jessica’s wedding took place at Truro Cathedral which is an absolutely stunning place for a Cornwall wedding photographer to document. The sun was shining as I headed to the bride and her maids for the preperations.  They had a beautiful house with tall ceilings and big windows allowing for plenty of opportunities for pictures…
