Are you in the process of planning your dream wedding ceremony and feeling overwhelmed with all the options available?

I’m Celebrant Rosie Anstey, a Certified Civil Wedding Celebrant, here to answer some of your questions, and guide you through the options.

Let’s dive into the differences between a Marriage Ceremony and a Wedding Ceremony.

A Marriage Ceremony is the legal part that gets the paperwork sorted where two individuals legally bind themselves in marriage according to the laws of the country or state.

It often includes traditional vows, and sometimes the exchange of rings, and will be officiated by a religious or civil authority and follows a set format.

It takes place in a registered place of worship, licensed office or venue which is open to the public.

The ceremony includes the signing of a marriage license or certificate by the couple.

After the ceremony, the marriage license is filed with the appropriate government office to officially register the marriage.

A Wedding Ceremony is the joyful, romantic celebration where you share personalised vows in a way that reflects your unique love story.

A non-religious wedding ceremony led by a Celebrant usually follows your legal marriage at a town hall or registry office and is often described by couples as their Wedding Day.

As a Civil Celebrant, I specialise in creating wedding ceremonies tailored to your preferences and beliefs on your terms. Wedding ceremonies can be held at any time, and location of your choice.

Non-religious Wedding Ceremonies are gaining popularity among modern couples looking for something different, couples of mixed cultures, same-sex couples, those with no religious beliefs.

These ceremonies focus on celebrating love and commitment without the confines of religious traditions.

With a Celebrant, you have the freedom to customise every aspect of your ceremony, from opening remarks to ring exchanges, making it a truly personal and meaningful experience.

In a Wedding Ceremony, couples have the flexibility to incorporate elements that are special to them, such as music, readings, rituals, and declarations of love. I am often asked to include hand-fasting and unity rituals in ceremonies which engage your guests and adds unique, memorable and fun moments to your big day.  This means that your ceremony can be as simple or elaborate as you desire, with a focus on your relationship and values.
